PENANG Adventist Hospital will be organising a Charity Light Run at Straits Quay on Sept 28 from 8pm to 10.30pm.

The 3.8km run, which embraces the theme of ‘Lighting Up Hope,’ will see all participants run with a headlamp. The organisers hope to attract 1,000 participants.

Registration fee will be channelled to the Patient Heart Fund. Besides the run, there will also be health screening, health education booths and ‘MEGA Heart’ exhibition on the event day.

“Through the Charity Light Run, Penang Adventist Hospital (PAH) targets to raise RM200,000 for its Patient Heart Fund in aid of needy heart patients,” Penang Adventist Hospital president and chief executive officer Ronald Koh said at the launching ceremony of the run held at the hospital today.

“The fund will be used to help needy patients by giving free or subsidized treatments.

“The sponsors include Straits Quay as venue sponsor, platinum sponsor JHM Group and gold sponsors Medispec (M) Sdn Bhd and Wellings Pharmacy Sdn Bhd.”

With him were Youth and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee, PAH chief operating officer Dr Thomas Tean, senior finance director Albin Phua and charity manager Jenny Ooi.

Soon commended Penang Adventist Hospital for organising the run to raise fund for heart patients, create awareness on heart diseases and most importantly, create an opportunity for the community to take the bold step to start living healthily in a fun way.

“This International World Heart Day on Sept 29, PAH is taking the lead to organise the meaningful campaign themed ‘Move Your Heart’ to inspire the community to keep their hearts healthy.

“We are all here together to promote healthy lifestyle, to increase physical activity and to reduce the risk of heart disease. So let us make sure we all take action and make a lasting difference to our health,” he added.
