IMT-GT Green Council Meeting ends on positive note

THE fourth Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) Green Council Meeting, attended by Thailand and Indonesia counterparts, has ended successfully.

The meeting lasted almost three hours as various topics on greenery were discussed.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, in his closing address, applauded the meeting for running smoothly.

He said it was a great honour and privilege that the state was chosen to become the host for the IMT-GT Green Council Meeting. The next one will be in Thailand.

“It is a great platform for us in the region to plan for the betterment of our future by doing our best for the environment collectively.

“We come together and collaborate well on ways to bring our respective cities to a greater height.

“I would like to thank all delegates for your participation and contribution in the meeting.

“If the time spent here is not enough, I welcome all of you to come back again to spend your leisure time in Penang,” he said in his closing remarks at the Parkroyal Resort in Batu Ferringhi today.

Joining the event were Thailand’s head of delegation Kraison Visitvong, Indonesia’s head of delegation Edy Natar Nasution, Penang Island City Council (MBPP) mayor Datuk Yew Tung Seang and other delegates.

Earlier, among the various agendas discussed were the progress of IMT-GT green cities initiative 2018-2019, second green mayor meeting report, sustainable urban development framework (SUDF) and presentation of Asean sustainable urban strategy.
