PENANG today welcomes the first-ever Penang Corporate Invitational Golf (PCIG) 2019, featuring 42 corporate leaders from India’s top brands.

Hosted by Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) in partnership with Golf Digest India, the friendly golf tournament starts tomorrow and ends on Sunday.

The tournament will be held at Bukit Jawi Golf Resort tomorrow and Penang Golf Resort on Saturday, with the gala events taking place on Sunday at The Light Hotel in Seberang Jaya and Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa in Batu Ferringhi.

State Tourism Development, Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said the events would definitely position mainland as a destination to visit.

“It will promote Seberang Perai as an attractive destination in line with the state government’s commitment to developing tourism on the mainland.

“It is also a step further in establishing a stronger relationship with India’s top corporate leaders and business owners.

“It also entices more Indian visitors to come to Penang,” he said at a press conference in Komtar today.

PCEB chief executive officer Ashwin Gunasekeran said PCEB has been aggressively marketing Penang to India for both leisure and business events.

“At PCIG 2019, participants will have the first-hand experience of Penang as a breathtaking destination for corporate activities,” he said.

Ashwin also praised Golf Digest India as the world’s best-known golf media brand associated with PCEB to hold this event.

Also present was Rishi Narain, editor-in-chief and publisher of Golf Digest India.

PCIG 2019 is also supported by Malaysia Airlines, Apollo Conferences and Malaysia Association of Hotels (MAH) Penang Chapter.
