THE second edition of the ‘Karnival Kerjaya Pulau Pinang Kadun Jawi 2023’ received a good response with hundreds of job seekers attending the career fair recently.

The one-day job fair on March 11 was jointly organised by the Jawi constituency service centre and Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) Penang branch at the C-Mart hypermarket in Nibong Tebal.

Jawi assemblyman Jason H’ng Mooi Lye said the objective was to provide a platform for job seekers, especially among the youth, to establish a good career pathway.

“The job fair is also aimed at helping those who have suffered job losses,” he said.

Employers from various industries such as manufacturing, electronics, construction, security and others offered more than 3,000 employment opportunities.

“These exhibitors (employers) are local companies waiting to tap into local talents.

“The locals are capable of contributing to the state’s economy,” H’ng said in his speech before launching the programme recently.

Also present were south Seberang Perai district education officer Dziauddin Mat Saat and Perkeso Penang branch director Mustafa Draman.

H’ng also announced that his office and the Perkeso Penang branch would set up a satellite centre to assist the constituents on matters concerning the Perkeso schemes.

The satellite centre would be set up at the Jawi Penang2030 centre within the C-Mart hypermarket.
