KBJ’s Ratu Kebaya competition goes international

THE Ratu Kebaya competition, organised by Kompleks Bukit Jambul (KBJ), has extended its invitation to beauty contestants from neighbouring countries this year.

 

A total of 12 beauty queens from countries such as Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia and India will be taking part in the contest together with their Malaysian counterparts.

 

KBJ JMB chairman Datuk KH Chan said the ‘Miss and Mrs KBJ Ratu Kebaya International 2022’ and ‘Miss and Mrs Face of Beauty Malaysia Selection’ would take place at the Setia SPICE Arena on Aug 27.

 

“The contestants stand the chance to win prizes worth more than RM58,000. Apart from the main titles, there will be other 10 subtitles to be won by the beauty contestants.

 

“They are Miss Congeniality, Miss Elegant, Miss Social Influences, Miss Body Beautiful, Miss Personality, Miss Mydin, Miss Hanzo, Miss Photogenic, Miss Magnificent and Mrs Magnificent.

 

“This year, the winner of ‘Miss Malaysia Face of Beauty 2022’ will represent Malaysia in the ‘Miss Face of Beauty International’ which will be held in Thailand.

 

“And the winner for the ‘Mrs Malaysia Face of Beauty 2022’ will represent Malaysia in the ‘Mrs Face of Beauty International 2022’ in New Zealand,” he said during the press conference held at Mei Hotel on Aug 23.

Chan said the ‘Face of Beauty International 2019’ winner, Miss Ploy Peerachada Khunrak from Thailand, would be attending the competition’s Grand Final to crown this year’s ‘Miss Malaysia Face of Beauty 2022’.

 

“We have brought the participants for photoshoots and outdoor activities at Penang’s heritage spots and other iconic locations.

 

“They will also be taken for a road tour to explore Penang’s handicraft, culture, street art as well as to experience local food.

 

“There will be also an International Charity Gala Dinner during this event to raise funds for three selected charity homes, namely Persatuan Syukur Penyayang Pulau Pinang, Persatuan Kanak-Kanak Cerebral Palsy Spastik Pulau Pinang and Penang Hospice Society,” he added.

 

Meanwhile, Penang Global Tourism (PGT) chief executive officer Ooi Chok Yan, who represented state Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin, said the competition would help to promote not only the traditional (kebaya) costume but also Penang’s diverse culture and heritage.
