PENANG Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow has consulted his lawyer and is in the process of taking legal action against Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce (PCCC) lifetime honorary president Tan Sri Tan Kok Ping for allegedly making defamatory statements against him.

“The matter has been handed over to the lawyer. We are giving some time for the lawyer to prepare and take the necessary action,” Chow said when asked by a journalist after attending a blood donation programme at Bayu Mutiara community hall in Bukit Tengah today.

Tan had purportedly made the defamatory remarks against Chow at a press conference on a land deal in Batu Kawan on Oct 18.

Tan had reportedly told the media that he has yet to see the legal letter.

Separately, Chow encouraged more people to take part in blood donation campaigns.

“With the support from the community, blood donation can save lives.

“Your action can also ensure an adequate blood supply in the blood banks, especially during emergencies,” Chow said.
