LITTLE Macam Macam, an extraordinary and exciting event specially curated for children and young families, will take place at the Taman Kejiranan Desa Mawar in Air Itam on July 23 (Sunday).

The event is part of the George Town Festival and promises a feast for the senses, offering a blend of creativity, education and laughter.

Former Air Itam assemblyman Joseph Ng Soon Siang expressed his delight at the upcoming event, stating that children would be immersed in a world of live performances and engaging activities from 5pm to 10pm.

He said the events lined up include a mesmerising ventriloquism performance by the renowned Mr John, awe-inspiring concert-dance theatre featuring award-winning pianist Dr Esther Shin-Chuang with dancers Pexstret Liu and Abigail Ng Jingxuan as well as a storytelling corner presented by Giving Tree Story House.

In addition to these activities, there will be activities such as tilt painting and virtual gallery walks, along with a variety of exciting workshops and hands-on resources that encourage children to actively participate and explore their artistic abilities.

“All the activities will help foster a sense of togetherness and provide an ideal opportunity for bonding,” Ng said at a press conference at his service centre in Taman Kejiranan Dewa Mawar today.

Ng added that this would be the third time that the George Town Festival programme is held in Air Itam, following a rooftop live singing concert during Chinese New Year in 2021 by one local artist, and a Chinese drama, called ‘Jom pi Holland’, last year.

Considering the expected large crowd, the organisers have collaborated with a nearby school, SJKC Sin Kang, to utilise their car park area.

Dr Esther will perform in a concert-dance theatre with dancers Pexstret Liu and Abigail Ng Jingxuan.

Jack Wong, the managing director of TLM Event, and the organiser of the event, called on the public to join them at Little Macam Macam and embark on an unforgettable journey into the world of arts, culture and heritage.

“Together, let us inspire and nurture the creative minds of our young generation,” Wong said.

Also present at the press conference were Penang Island City Council councillor Tan Soo Siang and MPKK Air Itam members.
