THE strength of Penang’s manufacturing industry lies in its ability to collaborate effectively, Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo said.

During his visit to FoundPac Technologies recently, he said the state was fortunate to have companies like FoundPac that play a pivotal role by providing essential products to power larger industries.

“This collaborative spirit is the cornerstone of our region’s success, fostering growth and innovation in our manufacturing sector,” he said in his speech.

Expressing his appreciation, Jagdeep commended the company for its predominant use of local employees.

“I am also happy to learn that the company boasts a substantial local workforce.

“Ensuring a steady supply of talent is crucial. We hope other industries will take note,” he added.

Jagdeep was accompanied by FoundPac chief executive officer and executive director Datuk Ong Choon Heng.

Ong shed light on the company’s workforce composition.

“In our overall workforce, we have 368 employees, with only two being non-local, while the rest are locals.

“If someone begins his or her journey here with a diploma, we actively support the individual in pursuing a degree program to acquire more skills,” Ong said, encouraging continuous learning and skills enhancement among the employees.

Following an informative company overview, Ong also guided Jagdeep through a tour of the manufacturing facility, providing firsthand insight into the production processes.

Founded in 2004, FoundPac Technologies specialises in offering a diverse range of electronic services and precision engineering components, with its flagship products being test sockets and stiffeners.
