Malaysians’ love for the nation in colour

MALAYSIANS across the nation earned an entry in the Malaysia Book of Records for 2015 on Oct 8 when a total of 100,000 participants took part in the colouring activitity themed “Thank you Malaysia, I Love Malaysia”.

The yearly event which was held for the second time witnessed all the participants across the nation starting their colouring activity at 11am.

Once again, Penang leads as the state itself contributed the highest number of participants for this nationalistic event – 60,000!

Organisations and corporate bodies which played a role in the success of this event included the Penang Public Library Corporation, the Malacca Public Library Corporation, The Whytehouse Education Group, Hospital Pantai Air Keroh Malacca, National Association of Early Childhood Care and Education Malaysia, PERMATA Negara, The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Federation of Chinese Association Malaysia and the Malaysia Interaction Cultural Association, among others.

Penang State Secretary Datuk Seri Farizan Darus was represented by Seberang Perai Tengah district officer Zulkifli Long at the event.

Also present were The Whytehouse Education Group founder Jery Yeoh and the director of Penang Public Library Sharimah Salleh.

World Appreciation Day had its roots in Hawaii, USA in 1965. This annual event serves as a reminder to everyone in the world to appreciate what they have in life and to love one another,” said Sharimah.

For us Malaysians, this ‘Thank You Malaysia, I Love Malaysia’ programme sends a message to remind our fellow citizens to love and appreciate what we currently enjoy. The gift of peace must be appreciated and be defended at all costs by each and every citizen of this nation,” she added.
