ENGAGING in the hobby of coin and stamp collecting can broaden a collector’s knowledge about the culture and history of a country, says Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng.

“As a collector myself, I must say that it is an interesting hobby and worth the effort spent,” Teh said in his speech when he officiated the Second Penang International Bank Note and Stamp Fair 2019, held at 1st Avenue Mall in George Town today.

Also present were 1st Avenue Mall general manager Jensen Lim and fair’s founder Richard Lim.

The three-day fair, from Sept 6 to 8, has 100 booths manned by 40 collectors from countries like India, China, Thailand, Indonesia, England and Malaysia.

Teh, who is also the political secretary to Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, expressed hopes that the fair would help position Penang as a city famous for its street food, warm climate, economic activities and friendly people.
