“A total of 6,958 Seberang Perai folk took part in the online survey from February 26 until April 14 this year and they selected six core priorities.

“Of the respondents, 65.1% wanted the city council to give the highest priority to climate change resilience.

“Then, 52.8% of the votes were for the development of the circular economy through cleanliness and greenery as the second highest priority.

“Next, transportation and green corridor got 51.3% of the votes while green space and maintenance of public places got 50.7% of the votes.

“Meanwhile, sustainable use of energy and ensuring the ability of home ownership to improve quality of life received 47% and 43.2% of votes respectively,” Rozali said when he announced the survey results in his speech at a town hall budget dialogue session at the MBSP headquarters building in Bandar Perda, Bukit Mertajam today.

The town hall session was broadcast live through MBSP Facebook page.

According to Rozali, the MBSP budget allocation for next year would be apportioned based on the results of the survey.

He also thanked the respondents for their valuable feedback.

“I am also glad that the number of respondents has increased by 2,384 from 4,574 last year.

“And males made up 76.7% of the respondents this year while the remaining 23.3% were female respondents.

“Of the respondents, 1.2% came from the 20 years and below category, 56.5% from 21 to 39 age group, 40.6% from 40 to 50 age group and 1.7% from above 60.

“Meanwhile, people with disabilities numbered 56 or just 0.8% of the respondents,” he added.

Rozali also said 97.7% of respondents in the survey this year gave the thumbs-up for the MBSP services.

“But still, there are 2.3% of the respondents who are not satisfied. And we will not overlook this matter as we try to improve our services,” he said.
