MBSP and UiTM Penang ink MoU for joint venture programmes

THE Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Penang branch campus have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today to strengthen their strategic partnership.

 

MBSP mayor Datuk Rozali Mohamud said the MoU agreement is for a period of three years starting from today until Oct 11, 2024.

“The strategic partnership that has been formed through the MoU signing today can provide an opportunity for both parties to hold joint venture programmes covering various fields that can also benefit the local community.

 

“This includes organising conferences, seminars, workshops, community activities and volunteering programmes such as to raise awareness among the public on the importance of environmental conservation.

 

“The MoU signing also involves research programmes, publication, consultation and also student industrial training.

 

“It is hoped with this MoU, we will be able to generate some creative and innovative ideas that can benefit both parties and also the local community,” Rozali said in his speech at the signing ceremony at the MBSP headquarters building in Bandar Perda, Bukit Mertajam today.

 

The UiTM Penang branch campus was represented by its rector Prof Dr Salmiah Kasolang during the MoU signing.

 

Dr Salmiah thanked MBSP for entrusting them to be a strategic partner.

 

“This is the proudest moment for UiTM as we are the largest producer of human resources in the country with more than 160,000 students in all our branches.

 

“The MoU signing today is an important platform for us to share knowledge and expertise with MBSP that can benefit both parties and the local community.

 

“For a long-term plan, UiTM also hopes to collaborate with MBSP to focus more on eco-tourism development, green technology and many others,” she added.
