Mid-Autumn Festival, a time to celebrate with family

PENANGITES are welcomed to join the ‘Penang Celebrates: Mid-Autumn Festival 2019’ which will kick-off on Sept 14 from 5pm onwards at the Esplanade.

The festival will be made merrier with performances by BM Boys, The Voice of China Dream singers James Yang, Gin Lee, Alvin Chong, Wen Suen and 988FM DJ Alsen, Joycelyn, Sean and Chloe.

State Tourism Development, Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said this would be a great time for everyone to have enjoyable family moments.

“We believe that this event can become a platform to realise one of the visions in Penang2030 which encourages the building of a strong family unit.

“For the young ones, they can enjoy playing traditional games such as congkak and taking part in mooncake and dumpling-making activities as well as joining in the lantern parade at night.

“So, come join us in this joyous occasion and most importantly, bring along your children and have quality family time,” Yeoh said in a press conference today.

Due to the preparation work, Jalan Padang Kota Lama will be closed from Sept 9 till Sept 11.

From Sept 8 till 10, the road will be closed from 12am to 8am whereas on Sept 11, there will be partial road closure from 12am to 10am.

The festival is organised by PETACH (the state exco office from Tourism, Arts, Culture and Heritage) together with Gabungan Belia Persatuan Klan Cina Pulau Pinang and designated radio 988 FM as well The Prestige Hotel.
