THE community hall at Minden Heights, which was left vacant for some time, will be turned into a mini library cum community centre for the Batu Uban constituency.

Batu Uban assemblyman A. Kumaresan said the community hall, which belongs to the northeast district and land office, was recently renovated at a cost of RM30,000.

“This place was formerly used as the ‘Kawasan Rukun Tetangga Minden Heights’ (KRT Minden Heights) but it was not properly utilised.

“After getting to know this, I sent my proposal to the land office to revive the hall for which they allocated RM30,000 for the minor renovation works.

“The renovation involved repairing of the roof, painting and as well as fixing of the fences. Previously, we had cases of trespassing and vandalism. So, for security purposes we had to put up the fencing,’’ said Kumaresan when he visited the hall on June 28.

He also witnessed the key handover of the community hall from northeast district penghulu Mohd Tajuddin Ramli to the Taman Brown Village Community Management Council (MPKK), which was represented by its chairman J. Chandraprema.

Kumaresan said the interior design work of the hall will be sponsored by some corporate companies to create a conducive environment.

“We are also planning to instal Wifi connection over here to encourage the residents, especially the youngsters, to use the facilities at the hall.

“Those who would like to contribute books, bookshelves and other needful items can contact our service centre at 046681062,’’ added Kumaresan.

Mohd Tajuddin said the renovation work of the building was completed in February but due to the movement control order, the key handover ceremony was delayed.
