MNC donates sanitiser and disinfectant to Penang govt

MULTINATIONAL company JetCan has made available 33 boxes of hand sanitiser and 2,000 litres of disinfectant to the Penang government.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who received the products on behalf of the state, was delighted over the continuous support from the private sector, and rightfully commended their efforts and concerns over the well-being of Penangites.

“As we are still in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic, it is really encouraging to see the private sector respond promptly by contributing more supplies of hand sanitisers and disinfectants for the people.

“The state government would like to thank Jetcan for the contribution today as it is important to have adequate or possibly more of these items during these trying times,” said Chow.

Chow also said that out of the 33 boxes, 19 are for frontliners, 11 for state executive councillor offices and three for the state Social Welfare Department. Meanwhile, the 2,000 litres of disinfectants are for the Penang Island City Council (MBPP).

Incorporated in 1996, JetCan specialises in areas such as industrial, material handling, cleaning, construction and mining.

It currently operates in Bukit Mertajam, Selangor, Singapore and Indonesia.

The company has three dedicated multidisciplinary teams under its wing, all of which were formed to operate in a fast-growing industrialised environment.

They are Jetcan Engineering Sdn Bhd, Jetcan Resources Sdn Bhd and Jetcan MHE Sdn Bhd.

Its managing director Ong Jet Wee said that apart from the company’s daily operations, its vision is also to provide a helping hand during a crisis, especially now during this world hit catastrophic event.

“We will stand by the state in its fight against the pandemic, and we hope these supplies of hand sanitisers and disinfectants will be of great help for Penangites,” Ong said during a brief handover ceremony of the supplies in Komtar today.

Ong, who is also the executive director of Klenco Malaysia Sdn Bhd, said the supplies are courtesy of the company in its bid to help the state fight against the outbreak.

Klenco is a leading independent distributor and manufacturer, specialised in providing comprehensive scope of professional, industrial cleaning and maintenance machinery, accessories and chemicals.

Headquartered in Selangor, the company has clients from afar such as Singapore, China and Thailand.

Also present during the handover ceremony were Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng and MBPP mayor Datuk Yew Tung Seang.
