TRUE to their word, the Lions Club of Bayan Baru fulfilled a promise they made in 2010 by handing over a 4-wheel drive ambulance for all terrains to the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS), Penang Branch on Feb 22.

The event was witnessed by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng at Taman Iping, Batu Maung.
“I remember clearly that on a similar occasion, Lions Club of Penang Island in District 308 B2 got together to raise funds to buy a fully equipped all-terrain ambulance which was presented to St. John Ambulance, Malaysia for the North-East District,” Lim said.
“On that occassion, charter president Datuk Goh Eng Hoe made a promise to me that Lions Club of Bayan Baru will one day raise enough funds to buy another one for the South West District.
“Today I am happy that this promise is fulfilled in this RM216,765 vehicle. Accidents involving hikers, cyclists and residents living in the hilly areas occur frequently and I am sure this ambulance will help to rush victims for emergency help,” Lim added.
