New boutique hotel offers great location and appealing traits

BRILLIANTLY located just a short distance from the George Town Unesco World Heritage Sites, the new trendy boutique hotel LOOP On Leith offers modern facilities with a touch of comfort.

The hotel, managed by Compass Hospitality, is strategically positioned in Leith Street, where guests can easily take a three-minute stroll to the renowned Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion. The iconic Blue Mansion was featured in the 2018 romantic comedy film Crazy Rich Asians.

LOOP On Leith owner Yeoh Tze Shyun said the 140-room property provides comfortable and modern facilities, unique rooms and flexible work-play-eat collaborative area.

“Our dining facility, the Monkey Kitchen, strives to promote famous Malaysian delicacies such as the apam balik, roti goyang, and our very own handmade kaya.

“Our LOOP Gallery, a special space to celebrate and to appreciate arts, can be a platform for budding artists to create and showcase their unique masterpieces. It can also be a place for collaboration,” she said in her speech during the official launch today.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said industry players, especially those in the hospitality sector, have a crucial role to play in presenting the ‘Penang experience’.

“I believe many of you would have heard about the ‘Experience Penang 2020’ campaign, a campaign that was launched in June this year.

“We are capitalising on experience. Our tagline for the initiative is ‘The Diversity of Asia’, which encompasses diverse elements such as beauty, fun, amusement, excitement and satisfaction.

“With the rise in demand for experiential travel, the campaign aims to highlight Penang’s splendour to visitors – both locally and abroad.

“We want to showcase our amazing diversity in culture, heritage, arts, food and natural surroundings, be it sandy beaches, breath-taking hills or even cityscape.

“We are witnessing increased number of tourist arrivals.

“The total number of tourists who visited Penang from January to Dec 10 this year was 1,124,823 as compared with 1,063,619 for the same corresponding period last year,” Chow said in his speech.

He said that the state welcomed new players to the hospitality circuit.

“It promotes a healthy competition and provides more options for the consumers and tourists,” Chow added.

In conjunction with the official launch, the hotel introduced its gallery’s collaborator, PEEP Art.

PEEP Art unveiled its inaugural group art exhibition, themed ‘Between Buildings’. The exhibition featured the artworks of three local street artists – Ahmad Hakym, Syahmi Daud and Jerome Liew.
