THE Penang YMCA has acquired a land in Balik Pulau and is planning to develop a campsite for the benefit of youth.

Its president Geh Cheng Lok said the community-based non-profit organisation was seeking the support from the Penang government.

“We are considering all available options for the betterment of the community,” Geh said during the organisation’s courtesy visit on Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow in Komtar today.

The organisation also expressed hope to contribute towards the Penang2030 vision.

Penang YMCA first vice-president Jerry Choo said the organisation encouraged healthy community activities.

Chow thanked the organisation for their interest in working together towards Penang2030.

“We have the framework and the strategic initiatives. The ‘skeleton’ is there, we just need to beef it up with programmes.

“The success of the Penang2030 vision depends on the strength of the community.

“The proposal to develop a campsite to promote youth empowerment is good,” Chow commended Penang YMCA.

Chow and Geh also exchanged mementos after the meeting.
