THE emergency response services in Batu Uban has been intensified now – thanks to the newly set up Batu Uban Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) branch office.
Batu Uban assemblyman A. Kumaresan said the branch office, located in Taman Pekaka, was established to provide faster emergency aid to the community in Batu Uban and the southwest district.
The Batu Uban branch is located at the Taman Pekaka JKKK building.
Kumaresan said the team could provide the necessary aid to those in need especially during the festive season.
“The Chinese New Year celebration is around the corner. We hope that the emergency response team can provide the required services to the community,” he said before opening the branch on February 3.
The branch office is open every weekend from 6pm on Saturday to 6am on Sunday.
In cases of emergency, public can contact the George Town CERT emergency hotline at 010-2484999.
Also present at the opening ceremony were George Town CERT chairman Lee Chiew Wan and vice-chairman Ong Swee Jin.
George Town CERT was formed in 2015 with 50 volunteers.
