THE Covid-19 vaccination centre (PPV) at Seberang Jaya expo site has been running smoothly since it began operation yesterday.

It is an additional vaccination centre that was set up in Seberang Perai to help expedite the National Covid-19 Vaccination Programme.

The other PPV is in SP Arena, Seberang Jaya.

At the Seberang Jaya expo site, senior citizens, accompanied by their children or younger family members, were seen coming to the centre for their inoculation.

Some used walking sticks and some came in wheelchairs.

All the attendees were seen adhering to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) as they masked up and kept their physical distancing.

The new PPV at Seberang Jaya Expo site is capable of administering 600 doses per day while the SP Arena PPV can vaccinate up to 800 individuals per day.

Among the elderly at the Seberang Jaya expo site to get their first jab today was Yahya Umar, 67.

Yahya Umar, 67.

“I arrived here with my daughter at 8.30am and got my first dose of vaccine at 9am.

“Everything went smoothly and fast. The nurses here are very friendly as well.

“They asked me a few questions related to my health history and also explained to me a bit about the vaccine, including the potential side effects.

“So far, I don’t feel anything. It’s all good,” said Yahya who lives in Permatang Janggus.

Another elderly person, Chu Hong Mooy, 67, is grateful and relieved that she finally received the vaccine today after waiting for quite some time.

Chu Hong Mooy, 67.

“I registered for the Covid-19 vaccination in March through the MySejahtera application. My grandchildren helped me to register.

“I am happy that I can finally be vaccinated today. My husband has not got the vaccine yet but I hope he will get his turn soon.

“I love travelling, which is also the main reason why I want to be vaccinated as soon as possible.

“And I hope that after receiving this vaccine, I will be able to travel again when the Federal Government lifts the ban on inter-state and inter-district travel.

“And of course, I will continue to abide by the SOPs set by the authorities.

“As for how I felt after receiving the jab, I have to say that I felt normal. Nothing weird happened to my body; no unusual reactions,” she said.
