STATE government leaders were at the groundbreaking ceremony of Wesley Methodist School, Penang (International) held on March 2.

The school which will have a capacity for 1,500 students from pre-school to IGCS year 1-11 sits on a four-acre land along Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu. Scheduled to be completed in September 2018, Penang now has another international school providing quality education.

Exco member for Housing and Town & Country Planning Jagdeep Singh said: “This ground breaking was made possible due to efforts of the Methodist Council of Education, Sungai Pinang assemblymember Lim Siew Khim, Nusmetro Sdn Bhd and Datuk Jerry Chan. My office facilitated the negotiations to relocate six families living in the longhouse situated on this site. Datuk Jerry has been instrumental in the negotiations to relocate the people,” Jagdeep said.

A service was held for the groundbreaking by Rev. Dr. Ong Hwai Teik, Bishop of The Methodist Church in Malaysia.
