New Year cheer for SMK Bagan Jaya

 

JUST three days into the new year, SMK Bagan Jaya in Butterworth had a great start when it received 38 new computers and a sheltered basketball court.

Presenting the gifts to the secondary school was none other than Bagan MP Lim Guan Eng today.

He said it was important for students to have access to the school computers.

“These computers will help the students in their studies.

“At same time, we strive to assist the school in improving its infrastructure and facilities.

“It’s important that the school’s needs are looked into to ensure a better studying environment for the students.

Lim using one of the computers at the school accompanied by those present.

“That’s why allocation to education is of utmost important,” he said in his speech.

The cost of the 38 computers, which include cable fixing, is estimated at RM95,000.

Later on, Lim visited the school’s new covered basketball court.

The cost of building the covered court is RM200,000.

Also present were state Youth and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee, who is also Bagan Jermal assemblyman, state Welfare and Environment Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh, who is also Sungai Puyu assemblyman and SMK Bagan Jaya Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) chairman Ang Lu Hong.
