NGOs donate medical equipment

TWO non-governmental organisations (NGOs), namely the D’Home Mental Health Association and Pertubuhan Pengajian Tao Tong Her, have stepped forward to contribute medical devices to the Penang Health Department and PgCare Alliance today.

 

The D’Home Mental Health Association donated 16 oxygen concentrators and 10 pulse oximeters worth RM20,320 to the state Health Department.

 

Meanwhile, Pertubuhan Pengajian Tao Tong Her contributed 10 oxygen concentrators worth RM12,700 to the PgCare Alliance.

 

The PgCare Alliance is the fruit of the collaboration between the state government and the NGOs.

 

The alliance mainly focuses on four key areas, namely mental health, job, food and financial consultation.

 

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who witnessed the presentation ceremony, thanked the organisations for the care and concern shown to the well-being of the community.

“This is a timely contribution to the healthcare system in the state as these medical equipment are needed so urgently at the hospitals, as many Covid-19 patients need them.

 

“So, we would like to thank these NGOs for their contribution.

 

“At the same time, the oxygen concentrators that were donated to the PgCare Alliance today will be loaned to the public (Covid-19 patients), free of charge.

 

“This is important to help the Covid-19 patients who have to quarantine themselves at home.

 

“With this device, it can help to deliver oxygen to patients with breathing difficulties due to the Covid-19 infection.

 

“We also hope that more people and corporations will come forward to do their part as well support the healthcare system in the state,” said Chow during the handover ceremony at Komtar this morning.

 

D’Home Mental Health Association president Datuk Seri Leslie Lee, who presented the medical equipment to representatives of the state Health Department at Komtar today, said the association was glad that they could play their part to support the healthcare system in Penang.

“As the Covid-19 pandemic is getting serious daily, as an NGO, we feel responsible to do our part to contribute in whatever way we can,” he said.

 

PgCare Alliance committee members Dr Ngoo Seong Boon and Datuk Dr Florence Sinniah were present to receive the contribution from Pertubuhan Pengajian Tao Tong Her that were represented by Teh Siew Hoon and Quah Guat Phaik.

 

Also present was state Welfare and Environment Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh.
