UNIVERSITI Science Malaysia (USM), through its ‘Centre For Alumni Liaison, Career & Graduate Employability (ACE), will hold a two-day ‘Career and Education Expo’ (EKSPEN) this month.

The career cum education fair, with the theme ‘Leading Graduates to Leading Careers,’ is an annual event organised by USM for the 17th consecutive time.

It aims to help graduates decide on their career path as well as to guide students on the choices to make after completing school.

“This year, USM collaborates with the state government to organise the expo which is set to provide an in-depth information on the various career fields and choice of studies available for the graduates and students.

“Some 50 companies, training providers and academic institutions will be taking part in the exhibition. It is hoped that students and graduates will seize the opportunities generated through the expo.

“There will be walk-in interviews conducted by several well-known companies. So, graduates may even land a job at the fair itself,” said Deputy Chief Minister II Prof Dr P. Ramasamy during a press conference today.

ACE director Norazharuddin Shah Abdullah said EKSPEN, which is a student-run programme, would serve as a platform to assist graduates to widen the employment opportunities and also to help school leavers to prepare and plan for their future.

“Good information as well as getting connected to the right people will help graduates and school leavers to make the right decision on their careers or choice of studies respectively,” said Norazharuddin.
