WITH the sight of Malaysian flags proudly displayed across the streets, in malls, supermarkets, and at various other places, the spirit of patriotism is evident as the country prepares to celebrate its 66th National Day.

At Penang Road Mydin Supermarket, the festive ambiance of the National Day is enhanced by the presence of numerous flags of different sizes for purchase.

Its branch manager Emirol Ashraf said national flags in various sizes are sold, namely 2’x4’, 3’x6’ and 2’x8’ at the outlet.

“While people have started buying Malaysian flags, the sales typically pick up from the second week of August,” Emirol told Buletin Mutiara today.

Meanwhile, Dali Stationery Enterprise sales manager Lim Hin Ming said, apart from flags, a special edition of colouring books for school children in conjunction with Merdeka Day, can also be found at the shop.

“We have received orders from schools and government departments for the flags and an increase in sales can be expected from the middle of next month.

“We have not started to sell the children’s colouring book yet as there is a delay in the arrival of the books due to the upcoming state election,” Lim added.

Libraco sales and marketing manager Richard Wong said an assortment of flags made from different materials, such as nylon, poly wool, and woolen are available at the outlet for the people to show their national pride.

This year the theme for our National Day as well as the Malaysia Day 2023 celebration, is ‘Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan Penuhi Harapan’ (Malaysia Madani: Aspirations Fulfilled Through Unity).
