RATEPAYERS in Seberang Perai could stand a chance to win five cash prizes totalling RM19,888 when they pay their second assessment tax this year and arrears via online, appointed collection agencies or kiosks.

Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) mayor Datuk Rozali Mohamud said all premises’ owners on the mainland would be entitled to the lucky draw for payment settled from July 1 to Aug 31.

“The five cash prizes are RM8,888 (first place), RM5,000 (second place), RM3,000 (third place), RM2,000 (fourth place) and RM1,000 (fifth place).

“To be eligible for the lucky draw event, they have to settle the assessment tax for 2021 along with the arrears if there are any.

“The payment has to be made between July 1 and Aug 31 this year via online, appointed collection agencies or kiosks.

“Those who pay their assessment at the physical counter are automatically opted out from joining the draw.

“Thus, I would like to urge all premises’ owners to make payments and settle their arrears within the stipulated time to stand a chance of winning the lucky draw prizes,” he told reporters via online after the full council meeting at the MBSP headquarters building in Bandar Perda, Bukit Mertajam today.

Rozali said MBSP would likely announce the lucky draw winners in September.

He also said the HeiTech Padu Berhad, the company managing the Penang Smart Parking (PSP) system, would top up RM5 to the PSP account of the first 2,000 taxpayers who pay their assessment via online, appointed collection agencies or kiosks.

“They also need to make at least one parking fee transaction using the PSP in any location in Seberang Perai from July 1 to Aug 30.

“The RM5 will then be credited into their PSP account in October,” he added.

“The permitted premises must be the existing commercial building and industrial building, subjected to strict conditions set by the city council.
