THE water supply in all areas of the state has returned to normalcy today, says Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.

Chow, who is also the Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) chairman, said this was based on the latest update from PBAPP’s official Facebook page as of 11am today, which stated that the tap water supply for all of Penang’s 660,000 registered consumers has been normalised.

“Water consumers who are still facing water supply disruption can lodge an official report by calling the PBAPP 24-hour call centre at 04-2558255.

“Some consumers may still be affected by the water supply disruption.

“I urge the in-house contractors and high-rise building management operators to ensure their internal system is functioning to cope with the surge in pressure when supply is restored in stages.

“The residents staying at high-rises also should check with their building or property management corporations if there are issues related to internal pumping systems,” Chow told reporters after the ground-breaking ceremony of Nibong Tebal Arena at Taman Helang Jaya in Bukit Panchor today.

He was asked to provide an update on the state’s water issue.

On July 6, thousands of households in the state were left without water because the Sungai Dua Water Treatment Plant (Sungai Dua WTP) had to be shut down due to the extreme turbidity of Sungai Muda.

It was caused by floodwater from Baling, Kedah after the district was inundated on July 4.
