AS a gesture of appreciation for the contribution of the media practitioners in the state, the Penang Convention and Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) hosted a media appreciation night at the Courtyard by Marriott Penang in George Town today.
Themed ‘Rockin’ in Denim’, some 60 media practitioners were treated to a scrumptious buffet spread and live music.
Several pressmen also bagged lucky draw prizes, including hotel stay vouchers and electrical appliances during the event.
PCEB chief executive officer Ashwin Gunasekaran said the programme was also meant to strengthen the bond between the media and PCEB.
“We hope we can take this opportunity to build rapport with each other. I would like to thank our media friends for always giving coverage to our events.
“We all know that media serves as a vital bridge that connects our endeavours with the world.
“Your power to inform, educate and inspire is unparalleled and we recognise your immense impact.
“Your commitment to the excellent reporting of our event and news has definitely helped us to amplify PCEB’s message locally and globally.
“Thank you for your continuous support shown to us,” Ashwin said in his speech.
State Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin, who was also present, also expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the media practitioners.
He commended their dedication, professionalism, and passion, which played a pivotal role in showcasing the unique wonders of Penang to the world.
“Your work has ignited the curiosity of countless individuals, encouraging them to embark on unforgettable journeys to our shores.
“Traditional and digital media have differences but both are equally important to reach a wider audience.
“Your role as media is so significant to the tourism and creative industries that it endorses the importance of the industries and the value of travelling, you are also the bridge between the world and Penang.
“Let us continue to work hand in hand to inspire more travellers to explore and experience the charm of Penang. May our partnership flourish, and may Penang’s story continue to be told far and wide,” said Yeoh in his speech.
