THE state government, through the Penang Development Corporation (PDC), will continue its effort to explore various sectors, especially the new ones to increase its income.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who is also the PDC chairman, said this was among PDC’s plans for next year.

“Although 2023 may be a challenging year, as various parties including economic experts have predicted economic recession may occur, PDC will continue to focus on its current sectors and also explore the new ones.

“The new sectors include solar project, build and lease, project management, industrial park management and empower PDC subsidiaries.

“And we believe all of these initiatives will further enhance PDC’s source of income,” Chow said in his speech during the PDC Annual Dinner at The TOP, Komtar today.

Among the PDC staff that attended the corporation’s annual dinner tonight.

Also present were Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Ahmad Zakiyuddin Abdul Rahman, Deputy Chief Minister II Prof Dr P. Ramasamy and PDC chief executive officer Datuk Aziz Bakar.

According to Chow, PDC also expects that Bandar Cassia in Batu Kawan, which is the third township developed by PDC after Bandar Bayan Baru and Bandar Seberang Jaya, would become the destination of choice for investment, business, work, study, recreation, healthcare and a crowd-focal location in the state.

“The education component will continue to be strengthened by bringing in or building more education and learning centres in Bandar Cassia.

“That includes international schools, medical training centres and others.

“It is also my hope that PDC continues to play its role as a ‘game changer’ in Penang by leading the socio-economic development of the state.

“This includes various aspects such as investment, industry, land development, affordable housing and also social responsibility in ensuring that no party will be left behind in the state development.

“After all, the focus on socio-economic development should be an important agenda so that it can have a positive impact, especially on the people of this state,” Chow added.

During the dinner, Chow expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to all the PDC staff for their commitment and tireless efforts all these years.

“Your services are priceless to me and also to Penang. Let us all bring PDC to greater heights,” said Chow.
