Penang CM calls for reflection ahead of state election

AS the state election looms, Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow calls Penangites to evaluate the state government’s achievements over the past 15 years.

 

“The Penang Legislative Assembly would probably be dissolved in the last two weeks of June.

 

“We welcome the voters and our supporters to evaluate the state’s achievements over the past 15 years.

 

“Evaluate the state government’s achievements over the past 15 years and see if it has fulfilled its duty of caring for the people of Penang,” Chow said during his speech at the Tanjong Hari Raya Open House today at Lee Sih Chong Soo in Burma Road.

Chow commended the private sector, community organisations, and individuals for working together with the Penang government to drive the state’s growth.

 

“Our cooperation has helped to enhance the people’s quality of life,” he said.

 

Tanjong MP Lim Hui Ying, who is also the Deputy Education Minister, shared the Education Ministry‘s announcement about the initiatives to improve the welfare of teachers.

 

“One of the initiatives is the ‘Program Cuti-Cuti Cikgu’ for teachers to destress and go on vacations with their families.

“In addition, the Education Ministry will also work with the Education Services Commission (SPP) to streamline the management pertaining to the recruitment of education service officers.

 

“This is the Ministry’s commitment to addressing the shortages of teachers in the country,” Lim added.

 

Also present were Penang Island City Council (MBPP) mayor Datuk A. Rajendran, Air Putih assemblyman Lim Guan Eng, Penang police chief Datuk Khaw Kok Chin, Tanjong PKR chairman Shafiz Rahim Raja, Tanjong Amanah head Mohd Yusoff Mohd Noor, Tanjong Umno vice-chairman Hamzah Mohd Ismail, and other dignitaries.
