A DELEGATION from the Council of Dato’ Dato’ for the State of Penang led by its president Dato’ Seri Kenny Ong Kean Lee paid Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow a courtesy visit in the evening of Dec 13 in Komtar.

During their visit which lasted almost 45 minutes, the council voiced its support for Chow in helming the state as well as the willingness of its members to support any projects initiated by the Office of the Chief Minister (CMO).

They also requested for Chow’s presence to attend the luncheon of a Golf Tournament they are organising in 2019, which is an ambitious project by the council to raise RM100,000 for charitable projects. The chief minister was informed, however, that the date of the tournament has yet to be decided but will be before the fasting month next year and subject to the date of availability provided by the Governor of Penang.

On the question of projects from his office to be supported by the council, Chow suggested that the Council of Dato’ Dato’ for the State of Penang restore a Victorian-style fountain which used to be located across the road from the Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce building along Light Street which all the delegation members agreed.

Chow also related to them his entry into electoral politics back in 1990 and since 1986 when he served as political secretary to DAP leader Lim Kit Siang.

Other office bearers of the Council of Dato’ Dato’ for the State of Penang who were present were deputy president Dato’ Haji Abdul Rafique Abdul Karim, vice presidents Dato’ Seri Choot Ewe Seng, Dato’ Ar. Jong East Full and Dato’ Seri R. Arunasalam, honorary secretary Dato’ Tan Gin Soon, immediate past president Tan Sri Ong Gim Huat and committee members Dato’ Ir. Tan Chong Meng, Dato’ Seri Markend D. Joshi, Dato’ Choong Khuat Seng and Dato’ Taizoon Hyder Tyebkhan.
