PENANG DAP must be fully prepared to face the upcoming elections, which could take place within the next 18 to 24 months, either at the state or national level.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who is also the former state DAP chairman, said the current state administration under the Unity Government has only completed two years of its term.

“Logically, we still have three more years. However, if the state election is held simultaneously with the general election, the term of the Penang administration will be shortened.
“Therefore, I hope Penang DAP will be fully prepared to face the upcoming election to secure a fresh mandate for the state.
“We must strengthen our readiness with the support of elected representatives, local councillors, Village Community Management Council (MPKK) members, and the Penang DAP machinery,” Chow said during the DAP Kepala Batas town hall session held at the Kepala Batas Chief Minister’s Special Coordinating Office today.
Also present were Human Resources Minister and Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim Chee Keong, who also chairs the Penang DAP, Penang DAP treasurer Teh Lai Heng, Penang DAP assistant treasurer Lay Hock Peng, Penang DAP publicity secretary Joshua Woo Sze Zeng, Penang DAP assistant publicity secretary Soon Lip Chee, Penang DAP political education director Daniel Gooi Zi Sen, Penang DAP committee members Phee Syn Tze, Ooi Yong Wooi, Rachel Teh Chuann Yien, Sundarajoo Somu and Foo Yu Keong.
Chow also expressed confidence that Penang DAP would be able to deliver on 100% of the manifesto promises made during the last election before voters head to the polls again.
Meanwhile, Sim urged all DAP members, including state and federal elected representatives, who aspire to be candidates or hold positions, to engage regularly with the people and grassroots party members.

He also stressed the importance of ensuring that DAP remains the strongest component party in the Unity Government, both at the state and federal levels.
“We must ensure that DAP continues to play a significant role in government, so that we can help shape the best policies for the people of this country,” Sim said.
