PENANG intends to open more industrial parks for future development, says Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.

He said the state has a lot to offer in terms of trade investments when the British High Commissioner to Malaysia Charles Hay paid him a courtesy call in Komtar today.

“The Penang Development Corporation (PDC) is tasked to work alongside with us to open more industrial parks.

“Most of the foreign investments are now looking at a bigger parcel of land for their expansion,” he told Hay during a 30-minute meeting.

They also discussed various topics, ranging from human talents, environmental issues, solid waste management, tourism to reclamation developments.

On top of that, Chow also provided an update on the proposed Penang South Reclamation Scheme (PSR) involving three man-made islands.

“We will be submitting a fresh Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) application, probably in the first quarter of this year,” he said.

On the state’s tourism outlook, Chow told Hay that the domestic tourism has started to rebound.

At the end of the session, they presented each other a souvenir.
