IN a bid to promote Penang’s food and attractions, Penang Global Tourism (PGT) has formed a partnership with Penang Foodie, a top food blog.

The initiative was formed to promote the state as a food haven with its place of attractions in conjunction with the Experience Penang Year (EPY) 2020.

The initiative comprises the popular Penang Foodie’s series of 20 videos to be posted every Thursday for 20 weeks.

Penang Foodie co-founder Ang Rui Mei said the first week’s video, entitled ’20 Must-Try Food In Penang’ has been launched today.

Ang speaking in her speech.

She said each video would then be posted weekly on Penang Foodie’s Facebook Page for the next 19 weeks, counting down to next year.

“Each video has its different themes, namely historical spots, best Muslim-friendly food, seafood places and things to do on mainland.

“This project aims to attract tourists from the globe to visit Penang next year.

“We are excited to be part of this initiative,” she said in her speech after the launching of Penang Foodie’s first video on its Facebook page at Toh Soon Cafe in Bishop Street today.

State Tourism Development, Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin lauded the collaboration.

He said such effort was aimed at showcasing the state’s diverse culture, heritage, arts, food and attractions.

Yeoh lauds the partnership.

“This partnership is our latest effort to promote EPY2020.

“Penang Foodie’s strong network on social media is a great way to capture the millennials market.

“We are looking forward to see positive results from this joint effort,” he added.

Up to date, Penang Foodie’s Facebook and Instagram pages have garnered more than 700,000 and 217,000 followers respectively in less than three years.
