Penang govt to ink joint agreement with MICHELIN Guide soon

PENANG is ready to welcome the arrival of the MICHELIN Guide.

 

State Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin announced that the MICHELIN Guide was ready to ‘enter Penang’.

 

“The MICHELIN Guide is ready to enter Penang and promising eateries in the state are ready to obtain MICHELIN Stars.

 

“Since 2018, I have had the vision to bring MICHELIN Guide to Penang so that hopeful restaurants in the state can be awarded the world-renowned MICHELIN Star and Bib Gourmand.

 

“The MICHELIN Star is a badge of honour for the gastronomy industry, and now we have the chance to showcase Penang’s cuisine in the world’s most prestigious gastronomy guide.

 

“The Penang government will be signing a joint agreement with MICHELIN Guide soon,” he told a media conference in Komtar today.

Yeoh said: “MICHELIN Guide has become the guide for many tourists around the world to find the most esteemed gastronomic locations.

 

“The arrival of the MICHELIN Guide will further reinforce Penang’s position as a food utopia, consequently, enhancing the quality of our local culinary scene,” he added.

 

Also present were Indonesia consul-general in Penang Bambang Suharto and Penang Global Tourism chief executive officer Ooi Chok Yan.
