SEVENTY finalist entries and 30 works by two acclaimed professional photographers are now on display at The Whiteaways Arcade as part of the Penang Heritage Photography Fiesta 4.0, which runs until Aug 23.
Jointly organised by PPB Group Berhad and its property arm PPB Properties in collaboration with SONY Malaysia, the initiative is supported by Penang Hill Corporation, Penang Green Council and George Town Festival.

The shortlisted entries comprise works from both the youth category (ages 15–25) and the open category (all ages), selected from 229 submissions.
A key highlight is a curated collection of 15 photographs by renowned photojournalist David ST Loh, interpreting this year’s theme of Penang’s green heritage and natural beauty. Also on show are 15 bird photographs by Kiah Ng, a SONY Alpha Guru.

This year’s theme seeks to spotlight Penang’s often-overlooked natural biodiversity, while raising awareness of environmental issues faced by the state’s inhabitants. The exhibition aims to inspire greater appreciation for indigenous flora and fauna and to nurture homegrown artistic talent, especially among youth.
Set against Penang’s rich ecological and cultural backdrop, the Fiesta encourages the public to discover, document and celebrate the state’s green heritage through photography.

This year’s Fiesta offers the largest prize pool to date, with 18 attractive prizes worth over RM70,000. The Fiesta also included photography and videography workshops, along with photo walks led by SONY experts at The Whiteaways Arcade, Han Chiang University College and Equator College.
More than 240 hobbyists and enthusiasts took part in these sessions, underscoring the importance of documenting and preserving Penang’s natural beauty through the arts.
The Fiesta will close on Aug 23 at GSC Gurney Plaza, where the finalists’ works will be screened in cinema format and winners will be announced.
