Penang Hill Festival returns with exciting programmes this year

AFTER a two-year-long hiatus due to Covid, the Penang Hill Festival is finally back for its third edition from Aug 5 to 7 this year!

The festival was first held in 2018 to help promote and raise awareness of Penang Hill’s nature, history and cultural heritage.

This year, there’s more reason to celebrate it grandly since Penang Hill and its surrounding areas were recently accorded the Penang Hill Biosphere Reserve under the Unesco Man and the Biosphere Programme.

While there are many programmes lined up to delight visitors in the upcoming three-day-long festival, the nature walks will be one to truly look forward to as they will bring visitors closer and personal to many hidden gems on the hill.

K.P. Ong, who manages the nature walks, said this year would be extra special as people are looking forward to spending time on the hill in a carnival mood.

“They can visit the hill any time they want to, but nothing beats the feeling of spending the three days during the festival, which basically puts everyone in a celebratory mood, desiring to understand the hill and its beauty on a more personal level.

“My team and I are truly looking forward to the many programmes lined up under the nature walks category, and we hope to give the visitors the best possible experience during their time here,” Ong said during an exclusive interview with Buletin Mutiara on June 24.

Besides nature walks, there will also be performances by Milky Way Chinese Orchestra and Wak Long Music and Arts Centre at Penang Hill during the festival.
