PENANG exco member for Tourism Development Danny Law Heng Kiang was the guest of honour to launch the Penang International Airport Paging Board on Mac 1.
The main objective of the implementation is to ensure the smooth and systematic process of guess reception at PIA. According to Senior Airport Manage Mohd. Arif Jaafar, “This initiative is part of Malaysia Airports’ aspiration to improve passenger service levels at the airport. It is to ensure that passengers are picked up by legitimate parties with whom they have made prior arrangements.”
The other concern is to regulate touts activities as there were complaints from tourists being cheated by touts. The Paging Board initiative is a collaborative effort between Malaysia Airports and KOPLIMO (Koperasi Pemandu Limo) with support from the Penang State Tourism, SPAD, JPJ and PDRM.
There is a counter at the concourse area and those who wish to page their arriving passengers just need to register at the counter and be given an orange frame.
