He said buyers and the media would be exposed to the various products in the state through Business 2 Business (B2B) sessions.

“I am certain that PITE itinerary this year is filled with a fair amount of outdoor familiarisation activities in Penang, including site inspection to a few attractions.

“You will be brought to experience an aerial city view of Georgetown, nature view atop Penang Hill and The Habitat and also the beautifully landscaped Tropical Spice Garden.

“Thank you and have an enjoyable time in Penang. We look forward to welcoming you back next year,” Yeoh said after attending the PITE 2019 opening ceremony.

PITE is a premium home grown travel trade event and widely popular at the global tourism markets.

This year, it has attracted 80 buyers from China, Philippines, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Myanmar, Azerbaijan, United States and Middle East.

Besides the buyers, 50 sellers from the local leisure tourism and business events industry are participating in the programme.

PCEB chief executive officer Ashwin Gunasekeran concurred with Yeoh, saying that there would also be networking events in the form of a heritage hunt.

He said among the highlights of PITE 2019 are a gala dinner on the iconic ferry and networking events at The Top and The Habitat.
