Penang is Harapan’s successful track record

PAKATAN Harapan has a ‘successful proven track record’ and that is Penang.

Sixty-five-year-old part-time gardener P. Thiagarajan said this when asked if he was happy with the Harapan-led Penang government.

“Penang has been doing so well under Harapan’s administration.

“Obviously, there are some problems here and there. Nothing is perfect and these petty issues can be solved.

“Most importantly, the people of Penang are living together in harmony regardless of their beliefs. Penangites are living in harmony and we are experiencing it in Penang.

“Our state economy is doing so well under the current Harapan administration.

“Our local assemblyman Prof Dr P. Ramasamy has been helping the people of Perai.

“And we are very happy to learn that Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow is contesting for the Batu Kawan parliamentary seat,” he said when met during Chow’s walkabout at Kampung Main Road in Perai this evening.

Perai, together with Bukit Tengah and Bukit Tambun are the state constituencies within Batu Kawan parliamentary constituency.

Thiagarajan was hoping that Harapan could be given a chance to steer the country to greater heights.

After the walkabout, Chow said he recalled a land issue faced by the residents of Kampung Main Road many years ago.

“In the past, some lots were taken back by the state government after the landowners failed to pay their land tax.

“However, with the help from Dr Ramasamy, the Penang government has offered up to 90%  discount on the land premium to the residents.

“They can also pay the premium in instalments to get back the respective lots.

“However, the offers are as per application basis,” Chow said.

Chow said the Penang government continues to do its best for the people to ensure that their well-being is protected.

Later, Chow and his entourage visited the Pasar Orang Kaya in Chai Leng Park, as well as the Da Fan Shu and Star Avenue coffee shops.

The people warmly greeted them when they arrived.

Chow spent some time socialising with the traders, hawkers and customers there.

Joining him at those places were Dr Ramasamy, Bukit Tambun assemblyman Goh Choon Aik and Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) councillor David Marshel.
