Penang looks forward to spearheading economic recovery

IF there is any expectation this Year of the Rabbit, the Penang government is looking forward to restoring the state’s economy and enhancing the people’s livelihood.

In his speech during the Padang Kota Chinese New Year Open House, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow expressed hope that the Lunar New Year would bring economic recovery to the state and its people.

“May this year also strengthen unity and bring us closer to one another,” he said at Lee Kongsi today.

Chow said that people could triumph in the face of adversity when they embrace unity.

“We hope that this year can bring us closer to each other. Look not at our differences, but at our common similarities.

“Let us move forward together and develop our state,” he added.

Among the dignitaries present were state executive councillor for Non-Islamic Religious Affairs and Social Development Chong Eng, state Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin, state Welfare and Environment Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh, state Youth and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee and Penang Island City Council mayor Datuk Yew Tung Seang.
