Penang pays tribute to frontliners

MALAYSIAN frontliners are welcome to enjoy complimentary admission passes, as well as, attractive discounts on accommodations and attractions during their well-deserved break in Penang.

Those who are planning to hold their wedding in Penang can also enjoy once-in-a-lifetime deals!

These privileges, under the ‘Thank You Frontliners’ campaign, are offered to frontliners as a symbolic gesture of appreciation by the state government and the Penang tourism industry players.

Penang Tourism Development, Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said the tourism industry players, especially the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) and the Association of Tourism Attractions Penang (ATAP) had shown great support towards the campaign as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) contribution to the community.

“Meanwhile, the members of the Penang Wedding Professional Association (PWPA) have curated 62 amazing offers under its own campaign known as the PWPACares,” Yeoh said in his speech before launching the ‘Thank You Frontliners’ campaign at The TOP Komtar on July 10.

The ‘Thank You Frontliners’ campaign has three exciting deals for frontliners to enjoy to the fullest in Penang, namely – Frontliner Hotel Deals, Frontliner Attraction Deals, and Frontliner Wedding Deals (which include the offers under PWPACares).

“It is our way of saying thank you to the frontliners for their sacrifices and contributions.

“They have worked non-stop, including weekends and during the festive seasons, to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic while most of us stayed home.

“Some of these heroes even had to postpone their wedding just to keep us safe,” he said.

ATAP chairman Ch’ng Huck Theng welcomed frontliners and other visitors to check out the various attractions in the state.

“Penang has it all. We are proud of our attractions and our frontliners!” he said.

PWPA chairman Low Chin Siang said Penang is the ideal destination for an unforgettable wedding.

Penang Global Tourism (PGT) chief executive officer Ooi Chok Yan also shared a short video presentation of the state’s initiatives during the movement control order (MCO) period.
