PENANG Welfare, Caring Society and Environment Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh and Bayan Lepas assemblyman Azrul Mahathir Aziz will be returning to Penang by tomorrow after providing aid to the 39-year-old survivor of the Christchurch terror attack.

In a press conference today, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said that Phee and Azrul Mahathir travelled to Christchurch, New Zealand to assist the family members of Rahimi Ahmad.

Rahimi, from Kampung Binjai in Bayan Lepas, was in a critical condition with a bullet lodged in his spine.

It was reported that Phee and Azrul Mahathir left for New Zealand on March 17 with Rahimi’s mother and older brother. Two other Malaysians were also injured in the terror attack.

“They went to New Zealand to assist Rahimi’s family members. Now that they (Phee and Azrul Mahathir) have completed their mission and currently there are many other officers there to assist the victims, Phee and Azrul Mahathir have been scheduled to return home.

“They will be back by tomorrow,” Chow said.
