PENANG will be tabling the state 2023 Budget on Nov 4 this year, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said.

“A notice has been issued and it is best that we do not change the date unless there is a request or a need for postponement arises.

“Also, Pakatan Harapan had earlier released a statement mentioning that three states governed by the Pakatan coalition have agreed to dissolve their State Legislative Assemblies in 2023 on a date that will be announced soon.

“The three states are Penang, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan,” Chow said during a brief press conference after witnessing the mock cheque presentation by The TOP Penang to five welfare homes at The TOP in Komtar today.

They are the Penang Shan Children’s Home, Special Children’s Centre, Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Terencat Akal Pulau Pinang, Persatuan Kebajikan Warga Emas Harmoni Pulau Pinang and Persatuan Sahabat Kanak-Kanak Kanser Wilayah Utara.

This was part of The TOP’s annual corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.

Each home received RM10,000.

Chow applauded The TOP’s dedication to consistently offering monetary assistance for such homes and hoped they would keep up with the good work.

“The TOP’s dedication to relieving the hardships of the welfare homes in Penang is indeed highly praiseworthy.

“It is also consistent with the strategic initiative of the Penang2030 vision to enhance the welfare and care system, as well as the spirit of LovePENANG.

“I hope that The TOP will continue with its persistent efforts and inspire others from the private sector to carry out more CSR campaigns.

“Thank you once again for this meaningful occasion, especially the monetary assistance for all the five welfare homes,” Chow said.

Representatives from each home, as well as the residents, were present during the ceremony.

Chow had a light moment chatting with some of the children from the homes after participating in the presentation ceremony.

Also present during the event were Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng and Only World Group (OWG) chief executive officer Tan Sri Richard Koh.
