THE Penang state government has welcomed the launch of My School AI Hub, an artificial intelligence (AI)-driven learning platform aimed at providing inclusive, high-quality and affordable educational support for students preparing for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), says Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
Chow said while all Malaysian children have access to free basic education, many families — especially those from lower-income groups — continue to face difficulties affording private tuition, particularly when preparing for major examinations.
“Not all families can afford the high cost of private tuition, and this has contributed to widening educational gaps. Initiatives such as My School AI Hub help provide equal learning opportunities regardless of socio-economic background,” he said at the launch of the platform here at USains Bukit Jambul.
Developed by Innotech Lifestyle (M) Sdn Bhd, Chow explained that the platform should be viewed not merely as a digital learning tool, but as a gateway towards strengthening educational equity through the use of technology.
“This platform is designed specifically for SPM students and offers guided, interactive learning that is aligned with the examination syllabus, allowing students to focus on relevant subjects while addressing their doubts during revision,” he said.

Chow said My School AI Hub is understood to be the first AI-based learning platform in Malaysia focused on SPM, with its development taking nearly 11 months and involving educators, technology experts and content specialists.
He said the platform integrates AI and virtual reality (VR) features, including automated assessments, student progress analytics and immersive VR-based learning to help students better understand complex concepts.
“We are grateful that the company offers its content at about RM8 per subject per month. This significantly reduces the financial burden on parents and makes quality education more accessible to most families,” he added.
Chow pointed out that the initiative aligns closely with the state government’s efforts to strengthen digital education and technological readiness under the Penang2030 vision.

He noted that Penang has achieved 100% smartboard coverage across all 396 schools in the state, while plans are underway to establish MakerLabs in schools to nurture Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) skills, creativity and digital innovation.
Chow also highlighted other state-led initiatives, including the 42 Penang Campus, which focuses on software engineering and cybersecurity training, the Penang GBS Industry Academy 2.0, which aims to train at least 500 Gen-AI talents, and the expansion of the Experience AI Programme to primary school teachers.
“AI will not replace people, but those who do not use AI risk being left behind. In today’s competitive environment, the ability to use AI is becoming an important advantage,” he said.
SK Ch’ng, the founder of My School AI Hub, said this is the first platform in Malaysia to integrate AI with SPM-oriented learning.

“For the time being, the focus is on SPM students. Any future expansion to private schools, international schools, colleges, or universities is still under consideration,” he said.
Among those present during the launch were Digital Penang chief executive officer Ng Kwang Ming, Innotech Lifestyle Sdn Bhd executive director Lau Tiong Wooi, Synorex representative Sam Kah Tong and Strategic marketing partner Chan Kok Hoe.
