A TOTAL of 26 Indian students in the state obtained a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.50 and above in the 2025 STPM examinations, and out of that number, seven students bagged a perfect 4.0 CGPA!

The Penang Hindu Endowments Board (PHEB) held a special ceremony on July 12 in Komtar, honouring all 26 students, as well as the seven students who were awarded the ‘Excellent Students’ Award’ for their outstanding performance.

PHEB deputy chairman Senator Dr A. Lingeshwaran, who also heads the education committee, reaffirmed the board’s commitment towards education, and that priority will always be given to ensure that high-performing students are acknowledged and honoured.

“At PHEB, we have always believed that through education, we are able to craft a wonderful future, become nation-builders, and contribute significantly to the growth of the country.

“Based on this belief, we (PHEB) are proud to say that a big chunk of the board’s allocation is being channelled to support educational initiatives, honouring excellent students, and so on,” Lingeshwaran said in his speech during the ceremony.

At the same ceremony, PHEB announced special financial aid of RM40,800 to assist 44 students of various higher education institutions to continue with their studies.

Meanwhile, Tanjong MP Lim Hui Ying, who was also present during the event, said while the success of the students was a result of their hard work, dedication, and years of preparations, the actual backbones, namely parents, teachers, and supporters, should not go unnoticed.

“Your parents have always been your biggest motivation, and your teachers, who have always been ready to give more so that you are well-prepared for the examinations. These are people that you should not forget no matter how far you go in life.

“And in a world where artificial intelligence (AI) is taking over major work operations, it is crucial that all of you embrace and adapt to this practice that is no longer a new norm, but an integral part of our daily lives.

“While you have mastered the highest school-level examinations in the country, now go out there and equip yourselves with digital skills and AI tools, all of which will prove to be vital in your future endeavours,” said a pumped-up Lim, encouraging the students present.

Among others present during the ceremony was PHEB chairman RSN Rayer.
