THE Pink October Paya Terubong 2026 programme will be held on Oct 25 at the first floor (hotel atrium) of Sunshine Central, featuring a range of activities to promote health awareness and support breast cancer patients.

Held in conjunction with Pink October, this year’s theme is “Let’s Go Pink for a Cause!”, with the message “Small Steps Make a Big Difference.”

The event will run from 7am to 1pm and feature activities including free haircuts, hair donations, health screenings and a 1.5km fun walk.

Speaking at a press conference in Komtar earlier today, Paya Terubong assemblyman Wong Hon Wai said the programme was designed not merely as a recreational activity, but also as a community health initiative.

“This programme is designed not simply as a fun walk, but as a community health initiative,” he said.

Each participant will be charged a registration fee of RM10, while donations will go to the Locks of Hope hair donation campaign to support cancer patients.

Wong said the initiative also aimed to raise awareness and encourage members of the community to undergo regular health screenings and pay greater attention to their well-being.

“I believe that health awareness should begin within our own community.

“Therefore, through this programme, we hope to encourage our residents to take a simple but important step to pay attention to their health, undergo regular screening, and encourage their loved ones to do the same,” he said.

Medan Angsana Village Community Management Council (MPKK) chairman Tan Kean Tatt, who was also present, thanked those who had registered for the event, saying that 150 registrations had been received at the time of the announcement.

“Most importantly, thank you to everyone who has registered and shown your support. Your participation means a great deal to us and motivates us to continue organising meaningful programmes that benefit our community,” Tan said.

Tan also encouraged the public to attend with their family and friends, wear pink and take part in the initiative to promote health awareness and support those affected by breast cancer.

Other partners and supporting organisations include Penang Adventist Hospital, Sunshine Central Penang, St John Ambulance Northeast, the Paya Terubong Madani community and Athens Fitness, alongside other healthcare and community partners.
