SENIOR citizens of Seri Delima will soon be able to improve their digital literacy, thanks to the initiative by their assemblyman Syerleena Abdul Rashid.

Syerleena has launched the Seri Delima Digital Clinic, a platform to help golden agers understand and improve their knowledge on digitalisation.

“The elderly will be able to learn how to operate certain online applications. They will also be taught how to use some electronic gadgets.

“The topics, which will be included in the clinic, are related to digitalisation,” she told a press conference at the Island Glades MPKK hall in Jelutong today.

Syerleena mentioned that Penang Smart Parking, ‘E-Aduan’ and ‘E-Bayar’ would be among the topics highlighted in the clinic.

“The participants can take part in the clinic for free.

“We will have our first session here at the Island Glades Village Community Management Council (MPKK) hall on Feb 19.

“The session is only for an hour, and we are targeting at least 20 participants.

“We have engaged the relevant personnel from the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) and the State Secretariat Office to assist my office in conducting the class,” she said.

Syerleena said it is important for the elderly to increase their digital literacy.

“The Covid-19 situation is not showing any signs of improvement. We have to accelerate digitalisation,” she added.

Syerleena said that those interested could obtain more information about the clinic on her social media platforms.

“I hope that the clinic can benefit the elderly here.

“Moving forward, we will check with the residents on the topics of their interest. The topics will then be considered to be part of the lessons.

“We want to keep this clinic as fun as possible,” she added.
