PYDC all geared up to hold more programmes for high school students

THIS year, the Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC) wants to initiate more programmes for high school students.

PYDC general manager Dr Gwee Sai Ling said PYDC would be organising the ‘Career Discovery’ programme at schools in all five districts.

“Before we conduct the programme, we will study the background of each school to find out the needs of its respective students.

“For instance, there will be speakers from vocational training institutions to give career guidance to the students in the relevant schools,” said Gwee after distributing mandarin oranges to the Buletin Mutiara team at the latter’s office today.

Apart from that, Gwee also shared that PYDC has some 3,000 youths under its ‘Youth Volunteer Programme’.

“Previously, we used to bring our volunteers all around Penang, but this year we are planning to take them out of Malaysia to give them more exposure.

“Another thing is for this year’s ‘Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge’ (YEC), we want to open entry to high school students from all over Malaysia.

“We will also continue with YEC’s Open category,” she added.

Also present was PYDC deputy general manager Ng Hooi Ting.
