A HUGE storm at Kampung Kebun Baru in Nibong Tebal on Oct 5 had badly damaged five houses, including some of the roofs blown off.
However, Jawi assemblymember Soon Lip Chee swung into action quickly to render help to the affected families.
Soon used his constituency allocations and engaged a contractor to repair the roofs.
“As these families are from the lower income category, it is right to help them repair the roofs immediately to reduce their suffering. It took just a few days for the repair works,” Soon said.
Each family also received help from various quarters including the Special Disaster Fund from the Governor’s office and collection from residents of the village amounting to RM2,200.
One of the recipients, Mohd. Salmi Desa, thanked Soon for his quick action.
“YB Soon is indeed a caring leader as he promptly attended to our problems and we wish to thank him for his attention,” Mohd. Salmi said.
